1 John 5:15, “This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us.”

Insight & Encouragement

I have been absent a few days, had a little trouble with the blog site, but we are back up and running. The confidence we are able to have in the security of approaching our Lord, is something we should all be thankful for. There are few people here on earth that we can have complete confidence in approaching us, and that no matter what know they hear and care for us. The love that Christ has for His children is unlike any love here on earth, it is beyond our understanding. When we sit and think, why does God love us so much? How can He love each of us, and care for each of us like He does? These are questions that one day we will find out when we are with Him in our heavenly home, but until then we can study them and get an idea of His love when we read and study His word. The scripture remind us over and over of the Lord’s steadfast love, His gentle love, how He loved us even when we were sinners, and how He loves us so much He sacrificed His own Son for us. This Thanksgiving season take time to reflect on His word, and how He has taken care and loved you.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank you for your unfailing love. I am so thankful to you for the confidence I can rest assured in knowing you have my life in your hands. Thank you for your plans in my life, and I pray today for guidance and direction down each path. I know without you I am nothing, but with you I am capable of so much more than I ever imagined. In your name I pray, Amen.

Colossians 3:24, “since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.”

Insight & Encouragement

As I continue to reflect on all that I am so thankful for in my life, and I’m sure others are as well during this time, one of them is for the work the Lord is allowing me to do in my life. Many times we wonder what God is doing putting us in different places, or why a certain job at a certain time, but we must remember He always has a plan. No matter what the job field you are in, or whether you are making minimum wage or a large salary, in the end we receive the reward of eternity with Christ. In the work you do, do it for the Lord and His glory, because the Lord is who we are serving. Thank Him for providing you with work, and look at it as a blessing to be able to work. He has a plan for you in that moment, and we must do our best work. When you wake each day, think about all of the people you can be a witness to, and thank the Lord for putting those people in your life.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank you for my job. Thank you for giving me a job, for bringing people into my life to witness to while at my job, and for one day inheriting your kingdom. I pray that my attitude be positive, and I never grumble or complain about going to work, but am always thankful. In your name I pray, Amen.

Proverbs 19:20, “Listen to advice and accept discipline, and at the end you will be counted among the wise.”

Insight & Encouragement

I am so thankful for the advice and discipline I have received over the years from those much wiser than myself. Those who taught me at a young age who Jesus was, and then as I grew older how to live a life serving Him. Learning to accept discipline can be very difficult, but is so important to living a life accepting responsibility. Discipline does not have to be viewed as a bad thing, but a way to teach one to grow and develop into a wonderful person and Christian. When we humble ourselves, even as children and young adults, and accept advice and discipline, we are allowing Jesus to be taught and shown to us through others. Over the years I have been taught by so many wonderful Christians, all in whom I still look up to. Thank those who teach you, who mentor you, who advise you, and who love you through teaching you how to accept discipline.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank you for sending your people to teach and train. Thank you for the people you have put in my life who have taught, advised, and trained me to become a follower of you. I pray that I always seek the advice and mentorship from fellow Christians, and allow myself to always learn from them. In your name I pray, Amen.

Proverbs 31:17, “She sets about her work vigorously; her arms are strong for her tasks.”

Insight & Encouragement

Throughout this month, I am going to focus the verses around being thankful. Yesterday was thankful to our Lord and all He has done within our lives. Today, I am going to focus on women and mothers. What better chapter than Proverbs 31 right! When reading Proverbs 31, this verse stuck out to me, and made me think of how thankful I am for my own mother. This verse describes her on point, and so many other women. When we think of women, wives, and mothers, my first thought that comes to mind is superwoman. They can do it all, and make it look so easy. My mother is no exception. Everything she does is to the best of her ability, always has been. Just to brag on her a bit (because I can :)), she gets up between 4-4:30 always has, gets so much done before anyone else in the house wakes, fixes my dads breakfast and lunch, has laundry done before I even think about getting up, watches 6+ children in her home for the past 31 years, has been involved in so many areas within the church, always has dinner on the table by 5, and with everything does to the best. These are just the surface of examples. I always refer to her as superwoman. As you enter into the Thanksgiving season, remember to thank your mother, wife, friends, and coworkers for all of the hard work they do. I promise these woman are wearing about 10 other hats.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank you for making woman so strong, but yet so tender-hearted. Thank you for making wives, mothers, and friends. In my own life, I pray that when I feel like I am out of control, that I find rest in you. I pray that you make my arms strong for the task you have given to me, and that you guide me as I do the best of my ability in each of them. I thank you so much for my own mother, and all of the other wonderful woman you have placed in my life. In your name I pray, Amen.

1 Chronicles 16:34, “Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever.”

Insight & Encouragement

With Thanksgiving a couple of weeks away, I believe we are all feeling the effects of this day in our lives. There is so much to be thankful for every day, and we should always wake up remembering this. The Lord has blessed each of us with family, friends, our church, our jobs, food, clothing, a home to live in, and above all He has blessed us with His goodness in our lives. Our God is such a good God and takes such good care of each one of us. The love that He has for us is never-ending and never-failing. It is unlike any love we could imagine and greater than any love we will ever know here on earth. During this thanksgiving period, and even after take time to thank the Lord for His presence in your life, for all the wonderful ways He has taken care of you, and for His unfailing love for you.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank you for loving me. Thank you for always taking care of me and knowing what is best for me. Daily I want to give thanks to you, through prayer and through my actions. When times get tough, I never want to take my focus off of your amazing love for me and that you are always there for me. In your name I pray, Amen.

Proverbs 3:5-6, “Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”

Insight & Encouragement

If you were in the Caravan program as a child, you know this verse as it is was the main Bible verse for the program. It always has been one of my favorite Bible verses, probably because it was one of the first that I memorized, but the older I have gotten the more this verse means to me and my life. The verse starts off reminding us to trust the Lord. When we trust in the Lord, we are letting go of the worry, the doubt, and the uncertainty of this world, and believe that the Lord holds us in His hands. Believe in His word and that He has only the best planned out for our lives. When we “lean on our own understanding” we are facing this world alone, but when we trust in the Lord we are facing this world with the Lord.

In verse 6, we are told that we must submit our ways to the Lord. We make a choice daily to submit our lives to the Lord. When we submit our lives to the Lord, we give Him authority over our lives. Our ways no longer come from what we want, but what He has for our lives. Submit yourself humbly and respectfully to Him.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank you for directing my path and always having what is best for me in life. As I think about how you have blessed me and lead me down the path that you have for my life, I think about how thankful I am for you. Through all my mistakes and all of the times I have messed up, you have never left me. There are many that have not put their lives in your hands, I pray that one day they will come to know you and trust you. In your name I pray, Amen.

Colossians 1:9, “For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you. We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives.”

Insight & Encouragement

Pray for others. We are a Christian family, and it is our responsibility to pray for one another. Many times we get caught up in our own world, in a world that we get stressed out and worried, and only find the time to pray for our situations. We cannot allow for this to happen. Our brothers and sisters in Christ need our prayers. Let them know you are praying for them, and mean it. Most of us at times have felt alone and distant from people, and it is so nice to know that there are people praying for us. Become one of those people, and dedicate time in your prayer life to pray for them.

In the second part of this verse, we see where they were praying for direction to follow the Lord’s will for their life, and for wisdom and understanding of the Spirit. In this verse we can see that when we pray for others, it is not just when a situation in their life arises and they need our prayer, but rather we should pray for them daily that they follow what God has planned for their life. As Christians we need one another. We need to pray for others as they face the trials of this world, and that they turn to the Lord for strength when dealing with those trials. Pray for the new Christian that they will continue to let the fire burn with in them and not ever give up, for our heavenly home will far surpass this world.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank you for prayer and the communication you have with each Christian through prayer. Thank you for my brothers and sisters in Christ, and their prayers. Daily I feel them and am so thankful for having such wonderful people praying for me. In my prayer life, I want to become more dedicated to praying for others. In your name I pray, Amen.

Romans 14:1, “Accept the one whose faith is weak, without quarreling over disputable matters.”

Insight & Encouragement

Compassion. This is going to be the word we focus on today. What were you like when you first accepted Christ as your Savior? Were you fragile and unsure, a little timid and backward? Developing and mature your walk with the Lord takes time, it does not happen over night. Romans 14 spends time reminding us how the strong must have compassion on the weak. The mature Christian, must show the those who are young in their faith compassion. They must not condemn them or look down upon them, but rather build them up and encourage them. Think about how parents are. When a child is young they spend time teaching their children and encouraging them to try new things. It is the same with our Christian lives. We should spend time teaching, disciplining, mentoring, loving, and being compassionate to the new young Christian.

Jesus was the only one among us who has ever been perfect, and during His ministry here on earth, He showed compassion to all people. He even showed compassion on those who did not believe, and those who beat and killed him. We see this example in Matthew 9:36, “When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.” Jesus had been traveling from different towns and villages sharing the Word, and when He met with the crowds He showed them compassion. In our world today there are so many who are sheep without a shepherd, and as Christians it is our responsibility to show them the way to the shepherd.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank you for your compassion on me. Thank you for never giving up on me, even when I fail. I am far from perfect, and you love me anyway, thank you. I pray for compassion. Compassion toward all people; mature Christians, new Christians, and those who do not know you. Do not allow for me to judge anyone, but rather show them your love. In your name I pray, Amen.

Proverbs 13:24, “Whoever spares the rod hates their children, but the one who loves their children is careful to discipline them.”

Insight & Encouragement

Discipline: a word that is almost unheard of in the culture we live in today. Spanking your child is pretty much abuse anymore, and if you tell your child “no” you might hurt their spirit and confidence in for their future. Disciplining our children is vital for their future actually, and in many ways will help them to grow into strong adults who know right from wrong. My husband has told me many times that growing up his father would tell him “this is going to hurt me more than it hurts you”, a saying that many people probably heard growing up. No one gets excited to discipline their children, or happy to know that they will have to say no, but we know that we must teach them what is right. It hurts a parent’s heart to watch their child hurt, which makes me think about our Lord. We are God’s children, and when we do wrong against Him, I imagine He is crushed. Parents, don’t be afraid of discipline, but as our Heavenly Father does do it with a heart full of love. For you know in your heart that one day they will grow up to be thankful for what you have taught them is right.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank you for your teachings, such as this one. Being a parent is not easy, but I am so thankful for your guidance and that you have provided me with this life roadmap. I pray that when I do have to discipline, that I am able to do so consistently and loving, so that one day they will look back and see just how much I have loved them. Thank you for giving me parents who disciplined me and taught me right from wrong. Even though I didn’t realize it then, I am so very thankful for this. In your name I pray, Amen.

Colossians 1:17, “Christ existed before anything else, and he holds all creation together. He is also the head of the church, which is his body.”

Insight & Encouragement

Before the world, the sun, animals, and humans, there was the Lord. The Lord existed before anything, and He will existed after everything. He is above all and Lord over all. In this verse Paul reminds us that the Lord holds all creation together. Not only did He create everything on this earth, but he maintains and holds it together still. He is most powerful, beyond our comprehension. As I read this verse it makes me think about my life as a Christian and do I put God at the head of my life in every way or do I pick and choose where I want to put God first? What about you? Do you make Him the head of your life? Do you allow Him to be ruler of your life and guide your footsteps? We are His creation and we were put on this earth to live for Him. Allow Him to lead you, allow Him to show you to the wonderful life He has in store for you, and allow Him to work through you to be an example to others.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank you for creating the earth and caring for it in every way. Thank you for maintaining this world and keeping your loving hands over us. I want to pray tonight for those who do not know you and what your creation, that they may come to know you and what you have for their lives. In everything I do I want to honor and life my life that is pleasing to you. That in everything I keep you first. In your name I pray, Amen.
